Norwegian Wood Effect

There’s always a sequence of events that leads to some points in the present which make us realize these subtle chains of more or less recent history.
I’m not talking about the way i got to Italy, which could for example begin by the fact that at one university in Netherlands they had bachelor courses only in Dutch some years ago..
This story is connected to a package i received on Friday. It was unexpected, since in the info e-mail i was told it will arrive by the end of November. A pleasant surprise. I always like these white envelopes or packages with the stamp of Royal Mail. Because there’s always books in them :)

This time, it contained some more unfortunate events accompanied by Mr. Dürenmatt and the Norwegian Wood. The latter is the result of the aforementioned series of events which began on my Birthday when we went with Davide and Georgia home from a Nouvelle Vague concert in Bologna around two-three in the morning. Apart from talking we also started to sing the Norwegian Wood from the Beatles. Dunno why, actually...i just remember we couldn’t get all the words. I still don’t remember it all, although i’ve heard the song for many times since then. It’s certainly one of my favourites. Well, and Georgia also mentioned this book from a Japanese author Haruki Murakami called Norwegian Wood... Then, some weeks later i happened to run across the song on youtube, when i was mounting our bed from IKEA (almost Norwegian wood) so i posted it on Georgia’s wall and got a response containing info on a movie based on the book. The movie looks really good and i checked the first run in Italy shall be at the beginning of December – i should make it before going home, then :) Well, and at point i looked for the book...and you know the rest. Hope to read it by the end of November.

  1. This is insane. I got caught by the book yesterday on my way back from the airport. The book shop was calling me. I entered and promised to myself that at the end of Life of Pi Norwegian Wood would be the next. I believe Alicja had told me about it when we were in Cph. Insane.
